(Reuters) -- Japan and the U.S. on Friday had a very detailed exchange and explored the possibility of a trade agreement, Japan's top tariff negotiator, Ryosei Akazawa, told a briefing.

Akazawa made the comment to Japanese media after meeting with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick in Washington.
