TOKYO -- Japan's lead tariff negotiator, Ryosei Akazawa, heads to the U.S. on Friday for a third round of talks with his Trump administration counterparts, Nikkei has learned, with a fourth visit this month being considered.

Akazawa, who serves as Japanese minister for economic and fiscal policy, intends to leave Washington on Saturday local time for his return home. He told reporters on Tuesday that Japan has been laying the groundwork for the third round of discussions with U.S. officials.
