HONG KONG -- China-oriented e-commerce platforms were set to begin raising prices for U.S. shoppers on Friday, in response to President Donald Trump's steep tariffs, with Chinese sellers closely watching American consumers' reactions to determine their next steps.

In separate but similar statements, Temu and Shein recently announced they will start hiking prices on Friday because trade barriers have "increased our operating expenses," with both vowing to "do everything we can to keep prices low."
