WASHINGTON -- U.S. President Donald Trump expressed satisfaction after meeting with Japan's trade envoy at the White House on Wednesday, noting that talks had advanced. But the Japanese side firmly requested the president's tariffs be reviewed, stating that they would negatively impact efforts by Japanese companies to invest in the U.S.

"A Great Honor to have just met with the Japanese Delegation on Trade. Big Progress!" Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform after sitting in on trade talks with Economic and Fiscal Policy Minister Ryosei Akazawa.
