SINGAPORE -- Former U.S. Treasury Secretary Hank Paulson, speaking at an international forum Wednesday, warned of an "economic Iron Curtain" dividing the U.S. and China as bilateral trade tensions escalate.

In a speech at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum in Singapore, Paulson said, "I see the prospect of an economic Iron Curtain, one that throws up new walls on each side and unmakes the global economy." He noted that more people in both countries are advocating "policies that could forcibly de-integrate the two countries."
