HO CHI MINH CITY -- Canada has opened a new export office in Vietnam, at a time when both countries' biggest customer, the U.S., is likely to make global trade chaotic once again.

Export Development Canada (EDC), a government-led export credit agency, added a Ho Chi Minh City branch Thursday night, offering companies financing and consulting. The ribbon cutting coincided with U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's threat of 25% tariffs on Canada and Mexico this week, plus an additional 10% tariff on goods from China.
