BEIJING -- The Chinese government has begun considering whether to resume imports of Japanese seafood, having apparently concluded that water samples from the sea near the Fukushima nuclear plant are safe, Nikkei has learned.

China may lift the ban in the first half of 2025 at the earliest, based on the diplomatic calendar and other factors.
