TOKYO -- China's exports recorded solid growth in April even after U.S. President Donald Trump imposed 145% tariffs on goods from the country, showing more resilience than expected thanks to increased trade with Asian and other economies.

Total overseas shipments increased 8.1% in dollar terms from the same period last year, down from the 12.4% recorded in March. But this was much higher than the 1.9% rise forecast in a Reuters poll of economists, according to data released by the customs office on Friday.
