HONG KONG -- China's exports expanded for the sixth straight month in September, albeit at a slower rate amid headwinds in global demand and trade barriers.

Total overseas shipments rose 2.4% on the year in dollar terms, slowing from the 8.7% jump in August, according to data released by the country's customs office on Monday. The figure fell well short of a 6% increase forecast in a Reuters poll of economists.
