BRUSSELS/NEW DELHI -- India's diamond polishing industry is awaiting details from developed countries after the announcement of a widely expected ban on Russian imports of the precious stones earlier this month.

The Group of Seven nations, along with the European Union, said they would first ban non-industrial diamonds from Russia starting in January. This will be followed by a block on third-country imports of diamonds that originated in Russia from March and the implementation of a traceability system from September.
