BRUSSELS -- New regulations on food packaging being considered by the European Union could make it tougher for Japan to export signature products like sake, scallops and wagyu beef to a major global market.

The Council of the European Union and the European Parliament are set to begin negotiations as early as Monday to finalize the measure, which, once approved, would take effect in 2030.
