NEW YORK -- The U.S. will increase tariffs on imports of Chinese solar wafers and polysilicon, the Biden administration announced on Wednesday, in its final effort to protect the country's clean tech industry from cheap foreign supplies.

The Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) hiked rates on solar wafers and polysilicon to 50%, while duties for tungsten products were increased to 25%. The rates will take effect on Jan. 1, 2025.
