TOKYO -- Vietnam stood out among its Southeast Asian peers last year with robust export growth, outpacing peer manufacturing hubs Malaysia and Thailand as the country benefitted from supply chain shifts away from China.
Using official statistics, Nikkei Asia compared the trade trends of five major ASEAN countries -- Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines being the others -- for 2024. Another trade hub, Singapore, was excluded as its statistics are not comparable due to its large transit trade.
