Turkey's GDP grew past $1tn for the first time in 2023

Economy expands 4.5%, but analysts expect weaker demand to dampen growth this year

ISTANBUL -- Turkey's gross domestic product grew 4.5% in 2023, pushing the size of the economy past $1 trillion for the first time.

The expansion stems from strong household consumption, which constitutes around 60% of the country's GDP. Financial and insurance activities grew 9% while the construction sector grew 7.8%.
