GUADALAJARA, Mexico -- Showing how America's new breed of space entrepreneurs only keeps getting bolder, U.S. ventures founded by tech industry billionaires are looking seriously at the business prospects for ferrying people and supplies beyond Earth's orbit.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk presented a detailed vision for a shuttle service to Mars at the International Astronautical Congress here Tuesday.
