HO CHI MINH CITY -- Vietnam's economy expanded 6.93% in the second quarter from a year earlier, surpassing the 5.66% in the January-March quarter, as it strives to bounce back from the pandemic, official data showed Saturday.

In what's been called an uneven recovery, the Southeast Asian supply chain hub kept steady export growth of 12.5% in the second quarter, boosted by electronics and seafood, according to the General Statistics Office.
