HO CHI MINH CITY -- Vietnam's economy expanded 7.4% in the third quarter from a year earlier, state data showed on Sunday, exceeding the 6.93% growth of the prior three months and defying expectations after the worst typhoon to hit the nation in 70 years halted many business operations.
The gross domestic product data released by the General Statistics Office marks the biggest quarterly jump since a 13.7% rate seen in the third quarter of 2022, which snapped back sharply from the coronavirus pandemic.
