Western Japan reactors powering up while east remains dark

All systems go for the Ikata reactor.

TOKYO -- Another of Japan's long-idle nuclear reactors has restarted, but not in the country's east, where most are of the same type as those at the ill-fated Fukushima Daiichi power plant.

The Japanese nuclear reactors next in line to resume operations, like those that have gone before them since the adoption of stricter safety standards in 2013, are located west of Nagoya.
