KUALA LUMPUR -- Malaysian telecommunications company Axiata Group is looking to mergers to help it grow.

The group's chief executive, Vivek Sood, told Nikkei Asia in an exclusive interview that Axiata is beginning to see a payoff from a series of bold moves, including the Celcom-Digi merger, which agreed with Norway-based Telenor in Malaysia in 2021 and a market consolidation strategy in Indonesia.
