TOKYO -- China is willing to discus issuing a new political document to advance bilateral relations with Japan during President Xi Jinping's state visit next spring, Chinese ambassador Kong Xuanyou told Nikkei.

"If the conditions are right, it is possible for us to show a common understanding," Kong said in a wide-ranging interview here in Tokyo that covered trade, the Hong Kong protests and North Korea.
