SYDNEY -- When Douglas Hsu, Taiwan's envoy to Australia, saw three Chinese warships conducting live-fire drills near Australia's eastern coastline in February, he couldn't help but recall tensions closer to home.
"It instantly reminds me of what has been happening in the Taiwan Strait over the years," he told Nikkei Asia. "This is what we experience all the time."
