LONDON -- The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is seeking loan guarantees for Ukraine from major EBRD shareholders, including Japan, EBRD President Odile Renaud-Basso said during an exclusive online interview with Nikkei.

The bank is endeavoring to protect the cash flow -- and the very existence -- of Ukrainian companies by asking other governments to accept some amount of risk.
