TOKYO -- Germany will push China to contribute to global climate finance to help poor countries with their mitigation and adaptation measures, State Secretary Jennifer Morgan told Nikkei Asia on Wednesday prior to her trip to China.

The Group of Seven developed countries need to continue to take the lead but it is "very important" for other large economies, including China, to begin making contributions, said Morgan, who has been the special envoy for international climate action at the German Federal Foreign Office since 2022.
