TOKYO -- The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) will help Latin American countries create a more attractive environment for Japanese companies to invest in projects such as developing the region's huge lithium reserves, President Ilan Goldfajn told Nikkei.

Goldfajn spoke Monday while on a trip to Japan, during which the IDB inked an agreement with the Japan International Cooperation Agency to set up a fund for private sector investment, with JICA to invest $1 billion.
