TOKYO -- India's northeastern state of Assam aims to draw investment from a wide range of Japanese companies to develop its semiconductor sector, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma told Nikkei during a trip to Japan on Friday.

"Semiconductors need fabs, semiconductors need assembly, and it needs R&D, so we want to develop the entire ecosystem," Sarma said.
