India's Rajasthan courts Japan auto industry with eye on EVs

State chief touts potential for business and tourism opportunities

TOKYO -- India's northwestern state of Rajasthan is rolling out the red carpet for Japanese autoparts makers to bolster the electric vehicle sector there, its chief minister Bhajan Lal Sharma told Nikkei during a trip to Japan on Wednesday.

Rajasthan, which borders Pakistan, is India's largest state by area. It is home to two industrial parks geared specifically toward Japanese businesses.
