TOKYO -- Leading German semiconductor maker Infineon Technologies is localizing production of commodity-grade products in China, as it seeks to stay close to buyers there, CEO Jochen Hanebeck said in an interview.
"Customers in China are asking for localization of production for those parts which are very difficult to replace," Hanebeck said. "That's why we will transfer some of our products to foundries in China and we have our own back end in China and that way we can address the concern of the Chinese customers in terms of supply security."
