TOKYO -- South Korea and Japan should work patiently and work together in responding to U.S. President Donald Trump's tariff policies, Park Cheol-hee, Seoul's ambassador to Tokyo, told Nikkei on Tuesday.

"It is better not to rush too much" when it comes to tariff negotiations with Washington, Park said in Tokyo during his first interview with Japanese media since taking his post in August 2024. "South Korea and Japan should communicate and prepare while consulting with each other."
