WASHINGTON -- Japan's position as a big Asian economy gives it a role to play in trade and other issues that involve standing up to both the U.S. and China, argues Adam Posen, president of the Washington-based Peterson Institute for International Economics.

Posen recently spoke with Nikkei on friendshoring, economic fragmentation, and Japan's role as this year's Group of Seven president and beyond.
