TOKYO -- Former Vice Foreign Minister Takeo Mori, who has first-hand experience dealing with the U.S. under Donald Trump, says Japan must accept the president-elect as a leader who embodies the U.S. and learn to negotiate with him. 

In an interview with Nikkei, Mori shared his insights into what Japan should do to protect its own interests as a Trump-led U.S. tries to renegotiate existing arrangements.
