TOKYO -- Japanese Foreign Minister Yoko Kamikawa on Monday pledged to seek a leaders summit with North Korea toward the return of Japanese citizens abducted by the country decades ago.
"We will do everything we can to bring home every abductee as soon as possible," Kamikawa said in an interview Nikkei and other news outlets. Kamikawa became Japan's top diplomat in mid-September as part of a cabinet reshuffle.
