Kobayashi Pharma to tap Southeast Asian demand with new plant: COO

Japanese drugmaker hopes to hedge risks by producing and selling locally

OSAKA -- Kobayashi Pharmaceutical plans to open a factory in Southeast Asia within a few years as the Japanese drugmaker widens its aggressive international expansion.

"We need production bases in Southeast Asia, too," President and Chief Operating Officer Akihiro Kobayashi told Nikkei in a recent interview. The company currently has factories in the U.S. and China.
