WASHINGTON -- As Russia's invasion of Ukraine approaches the one-year mark, a former U.S. ambassador to Moscow warns the world that President Vladimir Putin is prepared to see the war through for the long haul, with the fighting possibly lasting for years. 

John Sullivan served in Russia for nearly three years, under President Donald Trump and his successor Joe Biden, until September.
