TOKYO -- The United States intends to maintain its strong Indo-Pacific presence as it strengthens its economic dialogue with key regional partners, U.S. Ambassador to Japan Rahm Emanuel said on Tuesday.

"We understand, and our allies in the Indo-Pacific understand, the importance of America's presence," Emanuel said in a phone interview with Nikkei Asia.
