TAIPEI -- Taiwan will raise its carbon emissions reduction target for 2030, as the tech power strives to enhance its position in global supply chains, Taipei's climate czar said in an exclusive interview.

Environment Minister Peng Chi-ming said the government is ready to step up its climate efforts, after enshrining in law last year a commitment to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050. Plans include setting a carbon fee rate of $40 to $60 per tonne of emissions by 2030.
