LONDON -- Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair says China's intervention means there are "reasonable grounds for hope" that Russia's invasion of Ukraine will not trigger a third world war.

Blair, 70, told Nikkei in a recent interview in London that efforts to prevent the Ukraine war spilling over into an "absolutely devastating" global conflict have "largely been successful."
