TAIPEI -- The U.K. aims to sign agreements with Taiwan on digital trade, investment and renewable energy "in the near future," its departing envoy in Taipei said in an interview, as Britain pushes back against Chinese efforts to isolate the island neighbor of 23 million people.
These field-specific agreements would build on an existing landmark U.K.-Taiwan deal, John Dennis, a veteran diplomat who oversaw the signing of the pact in 2023, told Nikkei Asia. The next round of talks is scheduled in the first half of this year.
