For many years, the technology industry has been mostly associated with positive notions -- innovation, cleverness, convenience and progress.

But public perceptions of Big Tech have completely changed over the past several years. The disinformation and conspiracy theories propagated by social media during U.S. election campaigns and the revelations of the "Facebook Papers," among other scandals, have badly tarnished its image.
