Japan-Update

Busing across Japan just got easier

Foreign tourists can hop from bus to bus to see more of the country

Kotohira Bus provides tours of the Shikoku region.

TOKYO -- Taking a bus around Japan was not much of an option until now, due to industry rules that limit each bus operator to certain areas.  But nine bus operators across Japan are teaming up to provide longer routes, allowing tourists, especially those from overseas, to smoothly transfer from one tour operator to another, from Hokkaido in the north to Kyushu in the south.

Bus operators taking part in the "Japan Coastline Alliance" include those from Kagoshima, Kagawa, Hyogo, Tochigi, Iwate and Hokkaido.
