Robot parts maker eclipses McDonald's as market cap leader

McDonald's Holdings Japan ceded the market capitalization crown to robot parts maker Harmonic Drive Systems late last year.

TOKYO -- Companies with specific strengths are driving the recent upticks in the Jasdaq market, with robot parts maker Harmonic Drive Systems standing out from the crowd as the leader in market capitalization.

The Tokyo-based market for startups and midtier companies has been drawing many foreign investors of late. The Nikkei Jasdaq Index reached its highest point in well over 27 years on Monday, and climbed further Friday.
