Honda logs record annual Chinese sales

Result likely puts the company second among Japanese automakers in the country

GUANGZHOU -- Honda Motor sold its most new autos ever in China last year, with its CR-V sport utility vehicle helping propel growth in the world's largest market.

Chinese sales climbed 15.5% on the year to 1,441,307 vehicles in 2017, the Japanese automaker said Thursday. Growth likely outpaced that of the Chinese market itself, which appears to have slowed to the single digits.
