Japan's Pigeon projects 5% profit growth for record year

Brisk online demand in China looks to buoy baby products maker

TOKYO -- Baby goods maker Pigeon expects a 5% increase in operating profit to 20.4 billion yen ($192 million) for the current fiscal year, the company said Monday as it projected an eighth straight year of record profit.

The Japanese company forecast a 4% rise in sales to 107 billion yen this fiscal year, which began Feb. 1.
