Japan's Seino joins parcel delivery peers seeking higher rates

Price hikes to hit smaller businesses relying on trucking service

NAGOYA -- Major trucking company Seino Transportation is set to raise prices for business customers in fiscal 2018 in a sign that the rate increases begun by top parcel delivery companies are now spreading to the broader sector.

Rates are expected to climb about 10% for the core Tokyo-Osaka route. The company will report the hike, the first since 2015, to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism as early as this month.
