TOKYO -- Japanese trading house Sojitz will start operating an airport in the South Pacific island nation of Palau with Japan Airport Terminal, which manages Tokyo's Haneda Airport, and the local government.

Drawing on the public-private partnership method using private sector funds to develop infrastructure, the two companies and the government have inked a 20-year management contract, which will start next spring.
