Seven & i seen boosting profit abroad with US stores

Operating income at minimarts outside Japan may jump 10% this fiscal year

TOKYO -- Seven & i Holdings stands to earn a significantly higher operating profit from minimarts abroad in the current fiscal year under certain exchange rates, thanks to an American megadeal.

The Japanese company would take in a profit of just over 86 billion yen ($813 million) from the overseas convenience store segment during the year ending next February, up 10% on the year, if the dollar trades at an average of 105 yen.
