Retooled production to cut costs on Boeing 777X parts

Kawasaki Heavy is automating more steps in building the fuselages, helping to greatly enhance production efficiency.

TOKYO -- Kawasaki Heavy Industries will spend some 25 billion yen ($208 million) on measures to shave 15% off production costs for components used in Boeing's new jetliner series.

     The Japanese company will build fuselage front sections, cargo doors and wheel wells for the 777X.
