MELBOURNE -- Chinese-Australian dissident artist Badiucao's latest work imagines a dystopian future where Taiwan lies in ruins following a devastating nuclear attack, the grim aftermath of a violent conquest by U.S. and Chinese forces.

In this world, Hong Kong has become a techno-authoritarian city with internment camps for political prisoners and surveillance cameras lining every street. Meanwhile, the U.S. finds itself under the iron grip of a warmongering, fascist leader.
