TOKYO -- The animated film "Your Name" surged to the top of China's box office rankings and won a major U.S. critics award, as one of Japan's most successful movies of all time won over foreign moviegoers.
"Your Name" was the No. 1 grossing film in China over the past weekend, after premiering there Friday. It brought in 280 million yuan ($40.6 million) during the three days, topping the 230 million-yuan record set by "Stand By Me Doraemon," another Japanese animated feature that premiered in China in 2015.
