OSAKA -- Like most visitors to Expo 2025 Osaka, I arrive at Yumeshima railway station. We spill out of the ticket barriers and up the stairs, guided by security. Stepping into daylight, we are greeted by a cacophony of Japanese instruments. The soundtrack is like a local festival, instilling a celebratory smile in everyone passing.

Beyond the barriers, a 2-kilometer-long Grand Ring designed by the Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto exudes minimal synth sounds, encouraging visitors to linger. Once the Grand Ring has been traversed, the noise of a bustling hub awaits.
