TOYOTA -- In almost any city, the opening of a new museum tends to be big news. Nowadays, even privately funded institutions routinely attract the attention of politicians and government agencies, and of prospective corporate-sponsorship partners. Above all, if a new museum might potentially contribute to a city or region's cultural-tourism sector, it may be declared a winner even before it officially opens its doors.
Against such a backdrop, the new Toyota City Museum, which began welcoming its first visitors in late April, has arrived on Japan's cultural-educational scene with strong support for its mission and aspirations.
